The 5 km challenge for 30 consecutive days
Take up the challenge to run 5 km a day for 30 days
Well, here we are! Almost two weeks completed. 65 kilometers on the clock.
If you've been following my early days, you'll know that I set myself this crazy challenge: to run 5km every day for 30 days. No breaks, no wild cards, just me and my shoes.
The first week? It was fire 🔥. The excitement of the beginning, the adrenaline, the desire to smash everything... It was «easy».
But now it's time for the serious stuff: Week 3. This is often the moment when the excitement dies down, when you think «why am I doing this to myself? Well, you know what? I'm confident. Better still, I'm really starting to enjoy it!
Out with the hype, in with the real thing
Let's face it, the «novelty» effect is over. Now we're getting down to the nitty-gritty, the real routine. And that's where it gets interesting.
I realize that I no longer run just because I'm «motivated». I run because it's become my business. It's my appointment with myself.
Motivation is great for getting started, but it's discipline that does the work. And the good news is that discipline can be learned quickly! I don't even ask myself the question anymore. I don't negotiate with my brain and say «well, I'm tired...». No.
I put on my jogging clothes, lace up my shoes and do it. Period. It's become almost as automatic as brushing my teeth (but a little sweatier, we agree 😅).
Why am I optimistic about the future?
Honestly, I thought my legs were going to give out on me or I was going to be down. On the contrary! I can feel my body starting to pick up the rhythm.
- Mental? Top notch. Each validated outing is a small victory that boosts the ego.
- Physical condition? It's a bit tiring at times, but it's «good fatigue». The kind that makes you feel alive.
I see this third week not as a test, but as a chance to prove that I can go the distance. It's very gratifying to see yourself progressing, not in speed, but in strength of character.
In short, we're not giving up!
I’m extremely motivated to crush Week 3. I can feel it’s going to be a great, solid week where habits really start to take root. Stay tuned.
